VIII BRICS Legal Forum takes place in Johannesburg

On December 8-9, 2023, the delegation of the Association of Lawyers headed by Chairman of the ALRF Sergey Stepashin visited Johannesburg to attend the VIII BRICS Legal Forum hosted by Law Society of South Africa.

The forum included a plenary session and 8 panel discussions on various legal aspects. It was attended by more than 10 speakers from Russia.

On the second day of the event, founding members of the BRICS Legal Forum (Brazilian Bar Association, Association of Lawyers of Russia, Bar Association of India, China Law Society, East China University of Political Science and Law, Law Society of South Africa) signed the Johannesburg Declaration, reflecting the joint intentions of the parties in the field of legal cooperation.

The Russian delegation at the forum was joined by representatives of the governing bodies of the Association, the Ministry of Justice of Russia, leading educational institutions in the sphere of law, experts in arbitration, corporate law and intellectual property law.
