V BRICS Legal Forum takes place in Cape Town
The V anniversary BRICS Legal Forum hosted by the Law Society of South Africa brought together lawyers from Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa in Cape Town.
At the plenary session, CEO-Chief of Staff, member of the Board Stanislav Alexandrov gave the opening speech and conveyed greetings to the participants of the Forum on behalf of the Association of Lawyers of Russia. ALRF CEO underlined the importance of creating a platform for cooperation between lawyers within BRICS.
During the two-days Forum, experts discussed issues concerning BRICS arbitration, contract and corporate law, as well as financial and tax law.
Heads of delegations representing Brazilian Bar Association, Association of Lawyers of Russia, Bar Association of India, China Law Society and Law Society of South Africa also met to develop the draft final declaration of the Forum. It was particularly noted that this year, the BRICS Legal Forum has become part of the official events list set by the Johannesburg Declaration of the 10th BRICS Summit.
The Forum resulted in signing the final Cape Town Declaration, which outlined the intention of the parties to improve BRICS institutions and promote implementation of the agreements reached by heads of BRICS member states during the main summit.
