BRICS+ Legal Conference hosted by ECUPL takes place in Shanghai
On August 19, 2023, in Shanghai, the East China University of Political Science and Law held the BRICS+ Legal Conference under the theme «Developing Countries and the Development of International Law».
The conference was attended by scholars and legal practitioners from China, Russia, India, and other countries, and included such topics as national security in international law, maritime law, international economic law, human rights protection, cross-border dispute resolution etc.
Invited experts discussed how developing countries can contribute to rejuvenation of the international legal order, promotion of the rule of law to enhance global peace and security, as well as how the legislative process of international law should follow the principles of fairness and justice.
The session «BRICS Legal Cooperation» was joined by Ms Cha Mi Vu, Head of the Department for International Development of the Association of Lawyers of Russia, who spoke about ongoing initiatives of the BRICS Legal Forum and joint projects of its founders and participants.
