ALRF and Emirates Association for Lawyers and Legal sign cooperation agreement in UAE

On February 21-23, Chairman of the Association of Lawyers of Russia Sergey Stepashin paid a visit to the UAE as part of ALRF international cooperation activities.

During the visit, the delegation of the ALRF met with the UAE Minister of Justice, H.E. Abdullah bin Sultan bin Awad Al Nuaimi, who spoke about upcoming changes to the UAE legislation on the legal profession.

Association of Lawyers of Russia has signed a cooperation agreement with the Emirates Association for Lawyers and Legal. The agreement provides for the possibility of mutual legal assistance to Russian compatriots residing in UAE, and UAE citizens living and doing business in Russia. The legal communities agreed on cooperation in the field of legal education, including mutual visits by Russian and Emirates universities, and creation of new opportunities for a more thorough study of Muslim law. To this end, it is planned to establish an educational centre in the UAE under the auspices of the Association of Lawyers of Russia.

In addition, Mr Stepashin held a meeting with representatives of the Association of Russian Compatriots in the UAE and the Russian Council of Entrepreneurs in Dubai and the Northern Emirates. The ALRF delegation also visited Zayed University, the Russian School in Abu Dhabi and the St. Philip the Apostle Russian Orthodox Church in Sharjah.
